| Reilloc Chain was formed in 1974 to specialise in high quality mining chain and associated components. Based in Kidderminster in the UK, the company manufactures chains capable of carrying loads up to 250 Tons. Each chain has to be certified according to International Standards.
Having purchased a specially made 200kN hydraulic machine for proof loading the chains during the production process, Reilloc experienced big difficulties when the supplier went out of business.
Turning to Zwick for a solution Reilloc was able to benefit from Zwick’s experience in integrating hydraulic technology, the latest digital control system testControl and Zwick’s proprietary software testXpert®. At the same time, the machine was also uprated to 300 Tons.
Colin Collier, Assistant Works Manager, says “Zwick really saved us from a difficult situation. The existing machine was specially made for us but was not as user-friendly to operate as we wanted. It was also limited in functionality. In addition, we could only carry out production tests up to 200 Tons and when they went out of business we were faced with a possible dilemma of having to source a new machine at very high cost”.
Colin adds “We are now fully functioning again and our trained operators are running the machine to increased capacity using state-of-the-art technology. We are experiencing much better accuracy in our test data and this allows us to improve our products and our customers’ satisfaction. We can get much more information out of the system which is enabling us to improve our quality management system and maintain a higher level of data traceability.
Reilloc Chains are produced in accordance with DIN 22 252, ISO R610 and British Coal 133. For more information please visit www.reillocchain.co.uk |
