Two Machines in One |
| Our projects department has successfully delivered a 250 kN servo hydraulic testing system to Sandvik Coromant in Sandviken (Sweden.
Two main requirements had to be fulfilled:
* The fatigue test of drill components is carried out with forces between 360 N and 5 kN at a test frequency of up to 30 Hz.
* A high speed compression test, requiring an impact velocity of 300 mm/sec at full load, has been designed to analyze the impact properties of special materials used in the modern machine tool industry.
The projects department proposed a customized testing frame with a capacity of 250 kN and a T-slotted lower crosshead. The upper crosshead is equipped with a 100 kN actuator and a 100 kN load cell. The system is operated with a high and a low flow servo valves:
* The high flow servo valve is used for the high velocity compression test
* The low flow servo valve is used for the fatigue test
This solution provides an accurate control of the loading forces during the fatigue test without restricting the required flow for the compression test. In being able to perform both fatigue and high speed compression tests on the same materials testing machine, the customer could reduce its supply and training costs (1 load frame, 1 controller, 1 software) and increase its productivity.
The abilities of the Zwick projects department to understand the customer's requirements and to develop a solution in partnership with the customer has been essential for the success of this project. |
