The International Forum for Materials Testing is another big success

The 15th International Forum for Materials Testing, held from the 16th to 19th October in our Headquarters in Germany, was attended by almost 1,600 visitors. We were especially pleased to welcome guests from many countries, including France, Poland, Czech Republic, Sweden, Romania, Russia, Hungary, China, and India.

More than 120 products were on display, 18 of which were new developments, whilst 24 of our partner companies exhibited their products and services. More than 40 small lectures enabled the participants to listen to experts from various industry sectors and specialists within the Zwick Roell Group and to share their own knowledge and experience with others from around the world.

The Forum was arranged in specific industry segments including metals, plastics, automotive, and building materials, and gave guests the opportunity to discuss their testing requirements with our application experts. This year the new medical industry centre raised a lot of interest with its static and dynamic testing applications. In addition, our “tested for life” centre demonstrated a range of mechanical tests on products we experience in our daily lives. After-sales products demonstrated the cost effectiveness of upgrading, or modernizing (retrofitting) both Zwick and non-Zwick brands of testing machine, whether they are electro-mechanical, servo-hydraulic, pendulum impact testers, or creep testers.

A key innovation this year was videoXtens, Zwick’s latest development in video extensometry. This product adds complements our existing digital extensometer portfolio, and offers many unique benefits for research and development or quality control environments.

New features of testXpert® were showcased including the possibility to make on screen measurements while using the synchronized video capture system. For metals testing we also demonstrated the new TENSTAND option for software validation.

The popular Zwick ProLine machines now have updated testControl electronics offering unrivalled technological advantages such as high speed data transfer and improved resolution and accuracy.

The latest HIT pendulum impact tester range launched earlier this year has been extended up to 50Joules capacity.

In addition, we launched a new hydraulic anti-buckling compression device for composite materials, a new device for measuring the puncture resistance of geo-textiles, special tools for the testing of blind rivets, a semi-automatic and fully automatic micro-Vickers-hardness testing with testXpert®, multiple traverses and compound table control, modernization packages for high speed testing machines and a newly developed ToniMIX which fulfils EN413-2; EN 480,1/3; EN13279-2; NFP 18-352; NFP 18-356; ASTM C109 - C191 – C187 - C359 - C451 - C807; ISO 679.
