| Plastics Technology Laboratories, Inc. (PTLI) the independent plastics testing lab, has added its first Zwick UTM with extensometer system to its physical testing area. PTLI, founded in 1986, is focused exclusively in testing plastics, elastomers, and composites for a variety of industries. These include automotive, aerospace, building & construction, medical, and packaging.
The Zwick system, installed in April 2004, consists of a Model T1-FR010 10 kN Universal Testing Machine with testControl electronics and the fully automatic Macro extensometer configured for tensile and flexure testing. Although they previously had a Zwick digital durometer test stand, this was PTLI’s first purchase of a Zwick UTM. So far they are happy with the decision. PTLI technicians enjoy the ease of use of the grips and automatic macro extensometer, and find the testXpert® software flexible and intuitive. “All of these features make for increased accuracy and productivity” reports Jim Galipeau, Lab Manager. |
