| The Asian market is booming, and the global chemical company Lanxess is also enlarging its presence in Asia with targeted investments. To increase its product development efficiency, Lanxess planned a completely new state-of-the-art testing laboratory in Wuxi, China to perform materials testing for its global product development programme. With the help of Zwick’s leadership in project management this new testing laboratory meets the requirements of major global quality standards.
The project was started in 2006, and the laboratory has been operational since March 2007 with the official inauguration taking place in May 2007.
The decisive factor in choosing Zwick as the supplier was their ability to supply a wide range of plastics testing equipment and the dedicated project management to coordinate the other suppliers including: Netzsch, Malvern Instruments, Mettler Toledo, X-rite, Binder, and Systec.
The laboratory equipment supplied by Zwick includes a 10kN universal static testing system, type Z010, for tensile and compression tests at room and elevated temperatures (-70° - +250° C), pendulum impact testers for tests according to Charpy, Izod, tensile and impact tests, a drop weight impact tester for instrumented puncture tests, an extrusion plastometer, heat deflection temperature (HDT) and Vicat testing machines.
Zwick’s intelligent testXpert® testing software, integrated into virtually all of its products, offers a common operating system for static or dynamic testing machines. The main benefit is its power, ease of use, and intuitive operation.
TestXpert has been developed specifically for two distinct types of user; Routine production and quality control environments requiring simplicity and ease of use, and research and development laboratories, where there is a need for the complex test sequences, high speed synchronised raw data collection, and flexible and powerful analysis tools. testXpert® also reduces operator training needs, and associated support costs, whilst increasing testing efficiency and throughput.
As an option, testXpert® also has an integrated Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) which provides a low cost and standard solution for many testing laboratories. testXpert® can switch language in real time bringing many benefits for multinational organisations. With more than 10,000 users worldwide, testXpert® is the choice of testing professionals around the world.
With its new and fully equipped modern laboratory in Wuxi, Lanxess is able to carry out all required tests on their materials safe in the knowledge that their testing equipment has been installed and correctly commissioned. A further benefit of the modular technology is that it can be expanded later, if necessary. |
