| In early 2004, we supplied a system for the automatic compression testing of hard and soft foams to the Physical Testing Department of the Polyurethane Division at Bayer MaterialScience AG (BMS), Germany.
Before the standards-compliant compression tests are begun, the dimensions and weights of the specimens are first automatically determined. The system was integrated in the existing BMS IT environment for management of the test and result data (LIMS). The 18 specimens in the magazine are identified per test series by their barcode labels so that the header data relevant for the test report are automatically read out of LIMS for output on paper or in electronic form. All result data are stored in the LIMS database for access if a search for specific results is desired. |
