Compression Testing
Testing in accordance with EN 826 is used for determining the behavior of mineral wool on compression stressing. The test specimens must be cut out so that the bottom surface is perpendicular to the direction of pressure in the intended use of the product. The process employed for cutting the test specimens must not alter the original structure of the product.
A material testing machine is utilized for the test in the required force and displacement range with two very rigid, ground square or round pressure plates, whose side length (or diameter) is at least as large as the side lengths (or diagonal) of the test specimen to be tested. One of the two pressure plates must be stationary and the other mobile and, if necessary, provided with a centrally mounted ball joint in order to ensure that the force is applied only perpendicularly to the test specimen. The distortion is measured by means of the crosshead travel. |
