Fibres, Yarns, Thread, Roving

The physical properties of these textile semi-finished materials are determined primarily by tensile testing. Preparation of the specimen is done according to the requirements of the respective standard. Zwick has suitable testing machines and the matching extensometers but primarily practical specimen grips and jaw inserts that assure a reliable test process. Several examples of testing applying the EN ISSO 2062 standard are given below. This standard lays down the procedure for determining the breaking force and elongation at break of textile yarns taken from packages.

Textile Fabric

As different as the applications of the final product are, so diverse too are the investigations that are performed on the textile fabrics. Depending on the test requirement, the specimens are tested either in the wet or dry condition; sampling is done parallel to the warp and weft direction of the fabric. The test methods are correspondingly diverse, a criterion to which Zwick responds with a matching test setup. The Zwick testXpert® test software is capable of coping with the different demands and specifications and is well able to provide reliable results.

Bands, Belts, Ropes, Cordage

Every day, we are confronted almost unnoticed with innumerable bands, belts, ropes, and cordage. And all of these are exposed to constant loads and must satisfy certain quality characteristics for reliably fulfilling safety functions (safety belts, climbing ropes, conveyor belts). The reproduction of realistic conditions of use calls for complex test setups, special specimen grips, and reliable determination of events. These requirements are covered completely by the Zwick range of products.
